World Silesian Congress ™ – Reflection after the 2025 Autonomy March


Katowice, July 12, 2025. The streets of the city were filled with people carrying not only the memory of the past, but above all — hope for the future. The Autonomy March was more than a demonstration. It was living proof that Silesia is not a periphery – it is the heart of European thought, work, and values.


Among this chorus of voices stood the World Silesian Congress — a roof organization representing the global Silesian diaspora: scientists, cultural leaders, community activists, and entrepreneurs. We support the idea of autonomy not as an end in itself, but as a tool of responsibility and long-term development.


Our banner, featuring the portraits of 14 Nobel laureates from Silesia, is not a decoration. It is a reminder. A testament that from this land — resilient, industrious, and full of contrast — come minds and hearts capable of changing the world. This is the strength of Silesia: quiet, humble, yet unwavering.


We do not march in front or at the back. We walk among the people — from every district, every tradition, every story of Silesia. Because it’s not about us — it’s about the community.


This year’s edition also had an exceptionally family-friendly and inclusive atmosphere — among the participants were not only delegations and activists, but also families with children, seniors, youth, and people from all walks of life. The picnic vibe, children’s laughter, shared conversations, and moments under the Silesian flags show that autonomy is not just a political concept — it is a culture of daily life, kindness, and intergenerational care for our homeland.


We thank everyone building Silesia today — not only on the streets of Katowice, but in daily life: in homes, in workplaces, in science, and in migrant households where people still speak po naszymu. You are the foundation of our mission.
